CCCA Chili Supper & Fun Auction to benefit
CCHS Agricultural Learning Center
Thanks to everyone who helped make this event such a SUCCESS!!
On December 11th, the Cannon County Cattlemen’s Association held a Chili Supper and Fun Auction for the newly approved Agricultural Learning Center that will be located at the Cannon County High School. Supper was in the form of chili, soups and all the fixings along with gorgeous desserts donated by CCCA members and their families. Over 75 items were donated to the Fun Auction from over 40 businesses from Woodbury, Centertown, Hillsboro, Liberty, McMinnville, Murfreesboro, Red Boiling Springs, Smithville, and Summitville. Auction items included collector pocket knives, country hams, hats, fleece pullovers and vests, 2 children’s wood rocking chairs, hair care gift bags, dog food, livestock feeds and much more. John Higgins with Bob Parks Auction Company ran the auction and made it entertaining for all! With over 175 in attendance, the event raised just over $2,300 for the new Agricultural Learning Center.
The Agricultural Learning Center became a reality when it was announced on July 29th of this year at a special meeting including Former Commissioner Ken Givens, Representative Stratton Bone and numerous others from the agricultural community. The center is being made possible by a grant from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Enhancement Program. It will be one of approximately 12 located across the state that have been constructed to give the youth, as well as area agricultural groups a place to hold meetings, educational seminars as well as youth livestock shows and events. Proceeds from the CCCA Fundraiser will go to the purchase of needed materials and equipment for the center.
